The team at Milldown Glamping recently sent over some photos of their completed pods, along with a few from the build process.
These three pods were built using custom frame kits supplied by CosyPod, that we designed specifically for the project. Located on the Berwickshire coast, they needed to be strong, practical and capable of standing up to some serious weather.
Here's a look at how they came together.

Every pod starts with a single arch.
For this project, we developed a custom shape with a curved roof and a small ridge at the top. This gave the pods their distinctive look while also providing a neat fixing point for the roof tiles.

The arches were built from multiple CNC-cut sections which were glued and screwed together to form a strong structural rib.
Once assembled, they were ready to be stood up and connected together.

With the arches in place, the shape of the building quickly starts to appear.
One of the advantages of this system is that the structure can be assembled from flat-pack components using standard tools.

Once the frame was complete, work could begin on the insulation, lining and internal fit-out.
At this stage, you can really start to get a feel for the finished space.

The finished interiors make excellent use of the curved walls, creating a simple, comfortable space for guests.

Before the external cladding was fitted, the pods were insulated and wrapped to create a warm, weatherproof structure suitable for year-round use.

Tip from the team at Milldown
One piece of advice that came from the owners themselves was the choice of doors.
Because the site is exposed to strong coastal winds, they opted for sliding patio doors rather than outward-opening French doors.
It's a simple detail, but one worth considering if you're building in an exposed location.

With the cladding complete and the doors fitted, the pods were ready for guests.
The finished buildings look fantastic and sit perfectly in the surrounding landscape.

Each pod has its own outdoor space, giving guests somewhere to sit back and enjoy the views after a day exploring the area.

It's always satisfying seeing a project progress from a stack of CosyPod CNC-cut components to a finished glamping site.
A big thank you to the team at Milldown Glamping for sharing the photos and allowing us to follow the build from start to finish.
