How Yapham Holds Built Their Own 4m x 8m Side Entry Glamping Pod

Here’s a good example of a self-build done properly.

This 4m x 8m side entry pod at Yapham Holds Glamping in East Yorkshire was built by the customer using one of our frame kits—and the finish speaks for itself.

They went for a 4m x 8m side entry pod, which gives a much better layout compared to a standard end-door design.

We supplied the frame and fascias for this build — you can see the exact side entry frame kit here:

From there, they took it on themselves and handled the full build and fit-out.

This isn’t your standard end-door pod.

By bringing the entrance in from the side, it changes how the space works completely.

You get a much better layout, more usable space, and a proper separation between the living area and the bedroom.

It just feels more like a well thought-out space, rather than everything being in one line.

One of the nicest parts of this design is the ceiling.

Because of the side entry, the arches shift slightly around the doorway, which creates some really clean lines through the roof.

It gives a subtle bit of character to the space — almost a slight gothic feel — without being over the top.

It’s one of those details you don’t really notice straight away, but it makes a big difference once you’re inside.

They’ve absolutely nailed the finish on this.

The roofing sits clean over the curve, the cladding is tidy, and the fascia just frames it properly.

It looks sharp, but still fits perfectly in a rural setting.

And this is the important bit—

This is full manufacturer-level quality.

There’s nothing about this that looks “self-build” or second-best.

Realistically, they couldn’t have paid to have this built and ended up with something noticeably better.

They’ve made full use of the layout.

The living space feels open without being wasted, the kitchen sits neatly along the side, and everything works together properly.

You’ve got a proper double bedroom that doesn’t feel squeezed in, and a fully finished bathroom that ties in with the rest of the space.

It all sits where it should, and nothing feels like an afterthought.

This is where builds like this really stand out.

By going down the self-build route, you’re not paying for labour-heavy manufacturing or covering someone else’s overheads.

The budget goes into the actual build and the finish.

And the end result speaks for itself—

a pod that’s on par with, if not better than, a manufactured unit, at a fraction of the cost.

They’re already onto the second one.

That’s usually how it goes—once you’ve built one and seen the result, it makes sense to do it again.

You know what you’re doing, everything goes up quicker, and you can refine it even further.

If you’re planning something similar, this is a good example of the route a lot of people are now taking.

Start with a solid structure, build it out properly, and put the budget into the finish.

They’ve taken a solid frame, built it properly, and ended up with something that looks the part and works exactly as it should.

And now it’s up and running, doing the job it was built for.
